Commonwealth Environment Research Facilities (CERF) program
In September 2004, the Australian Government committed $100 million over five years to the Commonwealth Environment Research Facilities (CERF) program. CERF aims to provide sound advice to inform environmental public policy objectives and to better manage Australia’s unique environment.
The CERF program has two main components:
• the Mari n nation-wide research component, allocated by competitive tender, comprising CERF research hubs, CERF fellowships and CERF significant projects.
The research funded under CERF is required to be collaborative – involving multiple institutions and other research partners and end-users – and to incorporate multiple disciplines. CERF specifically supports world-class environmental research that does not qualify for assistance under existing programs.
