Project 2 – Social Research

The Social Research Project is undertaking applied research to contribute to the wider Landscape Logic pursuit of knowledge and understanding of the links and interdependencies between management at the paddock, farm and forest block scale and resource condition at catchment and regional scales.  This research will be undertaken in collaboration with other Hub projects, particularly the Victorian and Tasmanian Retrospective Projects (Projects 3 and 4) and the Knowledge Integration Project (Project 6).

The Social Research Project has three broad themes:

  1. To contribute to the Retrospective projects by using improving understanding of past and future landholder management of riparian areas (Tasmania) and remnant bush (North East Victoria), including their adoption of recommended practices; and responses to the mix of policy interventions used or available to Natural Resource Managers
  2. Provide new knowledge in developing areas of interest to Landscape Logic, including landholder adaption to climate variability (drought and climate change) that can be expected to impact on the condition of native vegetation in North East Victoria
  3. Enhance the capacity of the other Landscape Logic projects and partners (including regional Natural Resource and Catchment Managers) through targeted delivery of social research advice, including supporting the Knowledge Broking Project (Project 7) through access to existing and/or new knowledge and understanding.
